Men's Energy & Libido Tracker is a private daily check-in that looks for patterns between how you feel and your sleep, workouts and steps from Apple Health. It shows patterns in your own data, not medical advice. Answers to common questions are below. If yours isn't here, email support@mensenergytracker.com.

Using the app

What is a "pattern"?

A pattern is a link the app finds between two things in your own data — for example, your sleep and your energy rating the next day. It's calculated from your check-ins and your Apple Health data using a standard statistical method (Spearman correlation). A pattern means the two tend to move together; it does not mean one causes the other, and it isn't medical advice.

Does the app measure hormones? Is it medical advice?

No. The app doesn't measure testosterone or any other hormone, and it isn't medical advice. It only shows how your own ratings and your own Apple Health data move together. For questions about your health, talk to a doctor.

Why does it take 14 or 21 days before I see a pattern?

Patterns need enough days of data to mean anything — otherwise the app would show you a coincidence and call it a pattern. Same-day patterns (like last night's sleep and today's energy) need at least 14 days of paired data. Patterns that compare yesterday's workout or steps, or a tag like alcohol or a stressful day, need at least 21 days, because more pairs are checked at once and a chance match becomes more likely. Above the minimum, a pattern is shown only once your data clears a statistical bar, which keeps most coincidences out — most, not all, so read a pattern as something to notice, not proof. A pattern is an early signal at first, and is called consistent once it rests on four or more weeks of data, has kept its direction and clears a stricter bar.

I've been using the app for a while and still don't see a pattern. Why?

A few reasons this can happen: you may not have enough paired days yet for a particular metric (Apple Health data and a check-in both need to exist for the same day), your Health data may be missing a type the app reads (some data, like heart rate variability, mostly comes from an Apple Watch or a similar accessory), or your data doesn't show a strong enough link for that pair yet. The app says so rather than showing you something weak as if it were solid.

Do I need an Apple Watch?

No. The app works from check-ins alone, and adds more from whatever Apple Health already has — even iPhone-only step counts. Sleep and heart rate variability usually need an Apple Watch or a similar accessory that saves data to Health; without one, patterns that use those metrics won't be available, but the ones based on check-ins, steps and workouts still can be.

I missed a day. Can I fill it in?

Yes, up to three days back. On the Today tab, use the Day control to pick the day you want to fill in.

What is the daily note?

An optional line of up to 280 characters you can add to a check-in on the Today tab, for context on an odd day. It stays on your iPhone, the app never analyses it or uses it for patterns, and it appears only on the app's own screens. Your past notes are listed under Your Notes in the Trends tab. They are included in the data export and removed by Delete All Data.

What is the weekly recap?

A summary of last week's check-ins and averages on the Today tab. It appears once you have checked in on three days of a week. It can also send you a notification when it's ready — that's optional and off until you turn it on (see "How do I turn reminders off?" below).

How do I add the widget or the Control?

The Check-in widget shows whether you've checked in today and opens the app on Today. For the Home Screen, touch and hold an empty area of the Home Screen, tap Edit, then Add Widget, search for Men's Energy and choose the Check-in widget. For the Lock Screen, touch and hold the Lock Screen, tap Customize, choose Lock Screen, tap the widget area and add the Check-in widget. The Check In control goes into Control Center (touch and hold an empty area, then Add a Control), onto the Lock Screen's control buttons, or onto the Action button on iPhones that have one (Settings > Action Button). You can also say "Check in with Men's Energy" to Siri. Menu names vary a little between iOS versions. The widget shows only whether you've checked in and a count of recent days; neither it nor the Control shows ratings, notes or Health figures.

How do I turn reminders off?

The app has three optional reminders, all of them local notifications with fixed text. In the app's Settings tab, the Reminder section switches the daily check-in reminder off, and the Weekly Recap switch turns off the weekly notice. The reminder before a free trial ends has no switch of its own: it's removed when you turn off renewal in Manage Subscription. To turn off every notification from the app at once, open your iPhone's Settings, then Notifications, then Men's Energy.

Your data

How do I export my data?

Open the Settings tab and choose Export My Data. This creates a CSV file with one row per day — your ratings, tags and notes, and the Health figures the app imported (sleep hours, workout minutes, heart rate variability and steps) — and hands it to the iPhone share sheet. You choose where it goes (Files, Mail, AirDrop, and so on). The app itself never sends it anywhere.

How do I delete everything?

Open the Settings tab and choose Delete All Data. This permanently removes your check-ins, tags and notes, the app's copy of your Health data, your patterns, the widget's table, any export file and your scheduled reminders from your iPhone. It can't be undone. Your data in the Apple Health app, your subscription and any iPhone backup you made earlier are not affected. After deleting, the app starts over from setup.

Does my data ever leave my iPhone?

No. Check-ins, notes, Health data and patterns are stored only on your device and are never uploaded anywhere by the app, including to iCloud. The only other traffic is purchases, handled by the App Store, and the app downloading its published articles from Apple; the app attaches none of your data to either. The widget gets a small status table through an App Group on the same iPhone. If you export your data, it goes where you choose. See the Privacy Policy for the full explanation.

I'm getting a new iPhone. What happens to my data?

The app has no account and no sync, so its data lives on your iPhone. If you set up the new iPhone from a backup of the old one, the app's data comes with it, as it does for your other apps. Otherwise the app starts over. Export a CSV from the old iPhone first if you want a copy.

Subscription

What do the free plan and Pro include, and what do they cost?

The free plan includes daily check-ins, the Apple Health import, one pattern chosen from your own data once your data shows it, trends for the last 7 and 30 days, your notes and the weekly recap. Pro adds every pattern your data shows, with your own numbers behind each, and longer trend periods back to your first day. Pro is $6.99 a month or $39.99 a year in US dollars; your price is shown in your local currency on the paywall and in the App Store.

What happens after the free trial?

New subscribers get one month free on either plan. Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends, it renews automatically into the plan you chose, at the price shown on the paywall when you started. If notifications are allowed, the app reminds you two days before the trial ends. You can cancel any time before renewal in Settings > [your name] > Subscriptions.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are managed entirely by Apple, not by the app. On your iPhone, open Settings > [your name] > Subscriptions, choose the app, and cancel there. You can also open it from inside the app: Settings tab > Manage Subscription. Cancelling stops the next renewal, and you keep Pro until the current period ends. Refund requests go through Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.

How do I restore my subscription on a new phone?

Open the paywall or the Settings tab in the app and choose Restore Purchases. As long as you're signed in to the same Apple Account you subscribed with, your subscription is restored — no account or password with us is needed, because subscriptions are tied to your Apple Account, not to an app account.
